Use this simple guide to determine when to bet or surrender in Caribbean Poker:

 

Deal: Trash hand (no high cards)

Action: Surrender.

 

Deal : High Cards (A-?-?-?-?) or (A-K-T-?-?) (A-K-9-?-?) etc…

Action : Surrender; anything less than Ace-King will lose to the dealer if they play, and Ace-King without a Queen or a Jack as the third card is still very risky.

 

Deal : High Cards (A-K-Q-?-?) or (A-K-J-?-?)

Action : Bet; these hands will usually beat or tie the dealer if they open without a pair.

 

Deal : One Pair (2-2-?-?-?) to (8-8-?-?-?)

Action : Surrender; there is a 50/50 chance that the dealer will have a pair, but you may lose with your small pair. Better safe than sorry.

 

Deal : One Pair (9-9-?-?-?) to (A-A-?-?-?)

Action : Bet; there is a 50/50 chance that the dealer will have a pair, but your pair should be better.

 

Deal : Two Pair or Better

Action : Bet; these hands will usually beat the house and pay you well on the Call bet.

 

Unlike many other casino card games, Caribbean Poker decisions are quite simple, and you can win consistently with the basic strategy outlined above. One thing to remember is that we want to make the progressive bet each time it's offered. While it will diminish how much you win by $1 each hand, we don't want to miss our chance at a payoff of several thousand dollars on one hand.
